Delivering Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) for Victoria
...For the past 6-months I have been involved in the implementation for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Rollout for Victoria. The project is not without criticism from the Victorian Auditor-General.
What I got in return is being the first team in Asia Pacific (and possibly in the world) for implementing ebXML Message Service Specification v2.0 successfully. It is one of the most complex XML standard for enabling global use of electronic business information in an interoperable, secure, and consistent manner by all trading partners.
In short, successful implementation of ebXML version 2.0 you really have only two choices - (1) is an ebXML Module v7.1 from Software AG webMethods or (2) an adapter from iWay.
I did thought about creating my own ebXML adapter alternative for those who's seeking for cost effective solution. But for legal reason I can not make it commercial. You are welcome to contact me at scott [at] mrnguyen.com for further interests.
In-law
...I'm glad that my father in-law decides to migrate to Australia. This country got a good healthcare system looking after it's citizens. It comes at a cost, professionals like myself are paying higher taxes.

Collecting for a cause
...Money box where I put all my end of day coins for VNF donation.

The 2009 Lowy Institute Poll
...An intertesting independent think tank's perspective on Australia view of the world. I'm keeping a beat on the how Australia will evolve being a "western country" in the Asia Pacific region. How will Australia position itself when China becomes the world superpower in the next decade? The fifth annual Lowy Institute Poll surveys Australian public opinion on a broad range of foreign policy issues. New questions this year cover the priority given to action on climate change, public attitudes towards relations with the US and China, foreign investment, asylum seekers, how to deal with Iran and perceptions about nuclear threats.
The Poll also repeated a number of questions asked in previous years, revealing important trends in Australian public opinion over the last five years.

UXC acquires Glue AP Pty Ltd
...As of September 10th, 2009 I am employed by Red Rock Consulting within the Business Practice - Middleware/SOA division.
I have 17,500 share options with Glue since they startup three years ago, the actual amount of which the company was sold for was less than what I'd expected. UXC Limited is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Red Rock Consulting has completed the acquisition of all the shares of Glue AP Pty Ltd (Glue).
Glue is a small specialist provider of Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) consulting, Enterprise Architecture and Application Integration services and has achieved great success with a number of blue chip customers. Glue will combine with Red Rock's existing SOA practice thus consolidating the leading Australian SOA businesses at both the strategy and delivery layers...

Supporting for Vietnam Foundation Limited
...I have been a sponsoring member of the Free The Children for a number of years now, but I feel my contribution is lacking impact to the community.
So today I seek for a charity organisation that I can attend meetings and sharing my common interests to support in creating community projects in Vietnam, encourage self-sufficiency and provide scholarship for children from poor family. The Vietnam Foundation Limited - Helping hands from Australia offers exactly what I was looking for. The Funding Guidelines also inspired me and vision is well thought out.
Hang gliding with Mark Semini
...I made an itinerary when I started the Perth project, I've done all, except for Margaret River. Want to take the wife along.
- Explore Perth and surrounding on bike
- Hang gliding with Mark Semini
- Body surfing @ City Beach
- Snorkeling @ Rottnest Island
- Food & wine @ Margaret River
One of my favourite and Perth hidden secret is a place called Little Creatures Brewery restaurant-bar at Fremantle.
Living away from home I help but try some adventure sport. Did you know that hang gliding was invented by John Dickenson, an Australian?

Weekend in Perth #3
...Catching the Rottnest Express ferry to Rottnest Island.
This is what its said in the guide:Rottnest Island is a popular destination for locals and visitor alike, located just 18km off Fremantle... Discover its pristine waters, brilliant beaches and hidden bays... Rottnest is surrounded by some of the world's finest beaches and bays, popular for snorkelling scuba diving, surfing and swimming. I learnt from today's trip that there are more millionair-per-capita in Perth than any other city in Australia. Mostly thanks to organised criminals and corrupted businessmen.
It was a great weather to be out, like they say in the Discovery channel - "The world is just awesome."
The camera lens only captured a moment in time, the rest need to be experienced.

Weekend in Perth #2
...Bike tracking around Perth river.
I wanted to get a boat even more these days, Vincent said if I'm gonna get a boat go for the big one, save the upgrade.

Weekend in Perth #1
...This is my first weekend in Perth. In the past 2-months I've fly home every weekend to hold my wife, but since she's oversea, there's no point going home.
Kelvin Chew and Micheal lending me his unused bike. They had an 8-months old son that just had an open heart surgery. He is recovering well so thats a great news.
Ride from Perth, City Beach, Fremantle and catch the train back to Perth when the sun goes down. Covering distance about 30KM.
Chat to the local about living experience in Perth, he was an interesting character. He owns the kiosk at City Beach and the juice bar Forrest Chase shopping centre.

How's married life?
...Many people had asked me this question, my simple response is - 'being married give a purpose in life. You do the things and the choices you made have reason and purpose.'
Conversation with the taxi driver
...I had an interesting conversation with the taxi driver from WP to Perth domestic airport. It make me appreciate Anh Thu for a wife because of our common values and believes. I promise her that in the next lifetime I will marry her again.
She's in Vietnam at the moment, visiting her parents.

Mum and Dad trip to Vietnam
...It's the first time in 18 years I seen my parents going on holiday. Being parents you never stop making sacrify for your children, and the chain of life continue. The moto is work hard.
They say you are experiencing love into your first 20 years of marriage. Then you hit mid-life crisis, if you pass this hurdle. The remaining lifetime you will understand what love is...
I see my parents, they both very happy.
I will work hard and do good, so that both my parents and my parents in-law will remain happy.
Everytime Dad visit homeland, he always visit the ansestors' grave to pay respects. I too continue this tradition.
Dad told me after his return from the holiday, he wanted to live in Dat Lat, the place where he was a young man training into the military academy. Because he has many wonderful memories and lifetime friends there.

Gold Coast trip
...Thu, myself, Linh, Hanh, Tiffany, Vinh and Trang spent our New Year Eve in Gold Coast - Surfer's Paradise.
Going on theme parks was lots of fun. But I'm annoyed with some people in the group keep insisting we eat Vietnamese food. Next time I'll holiday just the two of just to save the hassle.
