half man half shark

Life as a carbon-based life form; a journey of building on success and learning from mistakes.

Last day at Woolworths

...Every start has to end. My PO ended last week, but I came today for the farewell. It is my last at Woolworths, but I have a feeling that I will be back next year to do more projects.

Jenny Cooper and Karen Fernandes gave me the Certificate of Appreciation for the webMethods Upgrade project. I have put in alot of weekend work to deliver rollout of projects. I own it mostly to the team and the people around.

Graduation day

...Today I graduated from my Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology from the University of Sydney, Australia. My parents are very pleased, to an Asian values graduating is a phase of maturity.

It took me 10-years of on and off studies to reach this far in my academic archivement. Getting another degree? Unlikely.

Painting

...I recent acquire three more oil paintings with theme from Vietnam.

Husband group

...I'm hanging out with Linh, Hanh's husband. We went fishing and play tennis together.

I'm looking forward to our Gold Coast holiday at the end of the year.

In this bear market many jobs will be cut. Today is Kurt's last day at Woolworths, contractors are the first to get the chop when trimming down cost. My Purchase Order is getting renew on a weekly basis.

A quick update

...A friend asked me "how's married life?" My answer is, I am very happy.

Meet Kevin from VADB on Sunday at Cabramatta shopping center. I'm so glad to see old friends.

Van is pregnant with Viet.

Carlos and Denise gave birth to a beautiful baby girl back in Portugal.

Vincent and I made a deal that we will be god-father of each other kids.

Met an interesting personality, Bav Reddy, during my time at Woolworths Limited. He's a cool.

I am very thankful that Dad has fully recovered from his accident. I wanted to give him a man-to-man huge, but it's not in my nature.

I still read my friends' blog, I just hardly update mine.

Lowy Institute

...I've been following with great interest on discussions at the Lowy Institute for International Policy. Especially on the topic of Asian Region Architecture.

Business modeling

...A business modeling company comes to my mind. A company that focuses on buying potential small-medium size businesses and restructure and re-model them to have a well operational structure. Revenue can be obtain from three sources, (1) sell of business, (2) ownership in the business or (3) percentage base on annual income.

There is no point just thinking about it, Red Light Bakery is a good real business that I can improve to create value to the existing business.

First priority will be resource planning. Ensure that raw materials get replenish appropriately.

Secondly is the distribution channel, finding more ways to channel daily bread through the community.

Look after people you care about

...Listening to Parlimentary farewell speeches there was an interesting saying - "look after the people you care about". The fact is that most people regret not spending enough time with family and their children, no one ever regret not spending enough time at work.

Today

...Today I realised that most of the problems in marriage relates to my lack of goals. So starting from tomorrow I will find a objective and focusing on it for the next three years. Every man must have a plan.

Average man

...I watch The Family Man movie.

She doesnt have a hobby, so we spent of our leisure time visiting the same relative - Cau 6 Mat. We always do what she wants to do.

I cant play adventurous sport anymore.

4 weeks honeymoon in Vietnam

...Day 1: Cau Dot and Ha Tien.

Port Macquarie

...Long weekend away with family and friends.

Old dog

...Bobby is in his 70's in terms of dog year. Anh Thu hated dogs.

I cant bear the thought of leaving him alone and suffering old age, I always remember you - happy and full of joy.

Buddy, you were more than a pet to me, you're always there to cheer me up. I hope next life we meet again and be friends.

My wedding day

...My family, relatives and dearest friends gather around to celebrate my milestone. It was the happiest feeling.

I have to be honest, I didnt remember much about my wedding until I looked at the photos, it gone by very fast.

Wedding pre-shoot

...VuFoto was our wedding photographer, it was a long day but we had many great shots.

Expression of interest

...My client ask me to join them, they will "make me an offer I can't refuse". It sounds like a technical role. I prefers doing analysis.

I still see my current employer as a huge potential for learning. The downside is I haven't have an practical engagement where I can execute hand-on with the Intellectual Property (IP).

I'm afraid

...I'm afraid of dying before doing something extraordinary.

I read alot about Vincent van Gogh lately - he lived a short and interesting life. I write into my art diary when I dont have access to my weblog.

Valentine's Day

...Something for Valentine's Day, I am sure she will like it.

Happier when life was simple

...The more money, the more problem we have. I was happier when life was simple, small income and freedom to play adventure sport.

First day of 2008

...I wish every a happy New Year! Always remember for 2008... Life is short break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably and never reget anything that make you smile :) On the first day of 2008, I spent the day chilling out with the boys - Vincent, Jeff & Thao, with their family at Palm Beach. It was the first time I get to play in the sun and near the water in many months. Anh Thu doesnt like to play in the sun for fear of a tan. She banned me from playing any adventure sports because it's dangerous, what if I had a serious accident? Who will look after me? HER!

Parking and traffic fines has dropped to zero.

She doesnt like me to express my thoughts through weblog anymore (I still do, I dont dont publish them :)).

We has ups and downs like any other relationship. She is my life-long companion.

Fiance vs

...I heard stories about it, but never expereinced it first hand. Fiance and mother inlaw dont get long. Everything they do seems to get on each other nerv. Most of the time it's about emotional and money. I'm stucked in the middle getting all the blame, I'm cool with it and accepts all responsibility. Afterall, I want things to run smooth in the house.

She been persuading me to move as far away as possible from my parents, say Bankstown. It's a good suburb with a small Vietnamese community. It is also closer to her Mum, brother and sister. This means I go go away on assignment for months and she can stay with her biological mother.

I on the other hand have a grudge against her brother, its not what he did, its what he dont do. For someone of his age he should be more responsible towards his family and the people around him. When I started dating her, he came to me to borrow money to fund his gambling habbits, its not a good first impression. Overtime, I learnt to accept people for who they are.

Dad had a serious injury

...Dad injured himself falling off heights on Tuesday at around 6:20pm I got a call from from Mum to get home urgent, 7:00pm Anh Thu and myself arrived at Fairfield Hospital. Dad arrived concious and quickly falling into unconciousness as he reached the hospital told the nurse. By now they has bandage him up.

We waiting until 9:45pm for the ambulance retriever team arrived to transfer dad to Liverpool hospital. He laid montionless on the bed, his finger nails are dirty from work. When we arrived at Liverpool Hospital there was a backlog and miscommonication, the operating threatre is still occupied for 2 more hours. Thanks to the quick decision by the ambulance doctor, it's 10:15pm, they transferring him to Neapen Hospital for immediate operation. Traffic jam cause by road work, it was raining terribaly, arrived at the hospital at 1:00am, by this time the neurosurgeon has started operating. At 1:15am a nurse inform us that everything is as procedured.

We waited and waited until 4:00am the next day, the operation was successful. They transfered him to the Intensive Care Unit for 24hrs monitoring. He is now on his road to recovery. The rate of his recovery will depend on his physical health prior to the accident.
